Im agree with the patterns stuff, sometimes i feel like ps2 days.For years, PES and FIFA have jostled for the right to be called best football game. I don't have the energy to go further about why this game is not that great other than saying that under the bonnet its more tunnelled than ever in almost every area than any of the predecessors with perhaps the exception of PES 20. Ballooning the ball over the bar again and again while trying different shot variations is all too common, but yea apparently it's practically real life! I won't go into the shooting but I will say yes it can look good but for the most part is again dependant on what the AI has planned for you and so the consistency is usually really poor, which it is. The pathing and options are just as pre-set as ever and the support of your players (which is your basis of creativity and pretty much the foundation of your options), as usual is completely dependant on whether the AI allows your team to play - sometimes is does aaaaaaand sometimes it doesn't.

PES 17 is no different, passing is linear and lazer-like (very akin to PES 2008 and more recently PES 2015) but rather than there be variations on the delivery which were present in PES 20, in 17 short pass is exceedingly linear as is the through ball. Yes, initially when you play a new version there seems to be changes and you may even think the game is completely different, however once you settle and encorporate the aesthetic and usually minor gameplay changes the core patterns are very much evident. PES is governed by these patterns and the developers don't deviate too much from them.

Are you out of your mind? Maybe if you're 6 years old or haven't played any of the other previous versions, but this one is particularly stagnant and more tunnelled than any other version I've ever played, and that's not even getting into the issues surrounding AI control/scripting.
